Calamity Jane Room
Romantic, splendid pastoral balcony view. Calamity loved it!
From the deck outside our room, we watched the sunrise with freshly brewed coffee in hand. Later, watching the sun go down and fireflies light-up, we toasted a most enjoyable day.P.W. Wake Forest, NC
This is the room Calamity could only have wished for. It is quite romantic and many a honeymooner and others have found it perfect for their special occasion. Calamity loved the country comfort, French wallpaper, Currier & Ives prints and period pieces that give this room it’s character and carries her name. The view from your private balcony is lovely, especially on a crisp morning when mist rises over the pond. At night, the stars have an incredible dazzle – a perfect ending to a perfect day.
Calamity stopped by to say “Howdy” on her way from Richmond where she’d been visiting her little Janie. Did she ever love this room. “Why, I never seen anything so pretty,” she said. “Slept like a baby.” Then she was gone, back to Deadwood. Left her fancy red fringe jacket and boots parked on the back of a chair, right where you will find them.

Testimonials – Calamity Jane Room
We can’t say more about how much we enjoyed our stay… The food, the cooking tips, the animals & your company. In one stay, you have totally vindicated all the reasons we stay at B & B’s. My husband raves that you are at the very top of our “favorite places” list… and believe me, we’ve been to a lot. You provided us the perfect start to our wedding weekend.Butch & Jen – Fayetteville, NC
The first impression of your “homestead” is beyond comparison… to know that you helped remodel this fabulous home means so much more! The Evans family – Graham, NC
I recommend playing like a kid… playing in the rain… Remembering to be in touch with Nature… and feeling ALIVE with someone you care about in a space that lets you feel that way – like this very special getaway that Suzanne has created. Let yourself be moved by the rain, swayed by the mountain mind, warmed by the sun… and do be with someone who likes to hold your hand and smile at you and be a kid with you. We’re coming back!Jeanne & Daniel
We loved the “Calamity Jane” room, but our favorite part was “outside the room” on the deck, enjoying the view & peacefulness at night. We had a relaxing time, which is just what we wanted!Geoff & Laurene – Toronto, Ontario, Canada
What a wonderful experience to escape and not be hurried. This is definitely God’s country. I will never forget being transformed into Calamity Jane – what a hoot!Billie Freeman
I really enjoyed my wife transformed into Calamity Jane. It was our 20th Anniversary & it made us feel as if it was our 1st.Perry Freeman

Our second stay. The Calamity Jane Room is so wonderful. The decor of this, and all rooms, is fascinating. I could spend hours just looking at it all! The view is so beautiful and peaceful; the food delicious, as always. Time spent visiting with Sue precious and very informative. Our favorite B & B.Bob Rollins – Culpepper, VA
